Red Nose Day

Friday was Red Nose Day and in the little shop I work in it was decided that it would be fun to dress up.
Here's some pictures of the day :)

I couldn't be serious with Louise as the banana and I couldn't stop laughing. The only problem with my outfit was that pervy old men in the village were a bit weird with me. Lol. Bad choice on my part.

It was a fun day and I think we raised about £110 from a raffle we're going to do on Monday :D

Owl Cushion Project

In an earlier post Starting to be creative I explained how I wanted to create an owl cushion based on ones I'd seen in shops in Sheffield. They didn't have one that suited my room so I'm making my own.

My bedroom

As my bedroom is black, pink and white I found the materials that best matched that colour scheme. I found an old black and white dress that I was going to chuck away and a pink pillow cover. I haven't got all the materials yet, I need pink thread, two wooden buttons for the eyes and stuffing.

First, I made a template of the body shape on grease proof paper, pinned the material to it and cut the dress to the appropriate size. Making it an inch bigger to accommodate the sewing.
Then I cut off part of the greaseproof paper to make the shape of the wing and did the same with the pink material.
I still need to make the eyes and the feathers which I will sew onto the body before I sew the body and stuff it.

Going shopping so I hope I'll find the rest of the stuff I need :D

Wine Bottle to Vase :D

So, I said I'd post once a week, but lately I've been doing a few things so I think I'll just post as often as I want.
Which brings me onto this post :D. A couple of weeks ago it was Valentine's Day and of course the shops were full of hearts, pink and red, all very over the top. I say it was over the top but I do love Valentine's Day :D I think it's cute. I don't buy much for it and never spend loads on a card, tbh last year I think I bought Mike slippers ha! This year I went to London so that was classed as both of our presents.

I was going out with my friends one night and my friend Sam bought some wine with her. Yum :p.
Seeing as it was past the day, shops were selling all their Valentine's Day goodies on the cheap. She found this bottle of wine. Was quite cheap and wasn't that bad actually :).

As my room is very pink and girly I thought that the bottle would be nice in my room somewhere.
Look now nice it is, there is a gem at the top of the heart which I think was a nice addition as well.

I thought it would look nice with some flowers in it and as real flowers don't last long I decided to add some fake flowers. They were from B&M bargins and didn't cost that much. To begin with the stems on the flowers were very long and it would have looked stupid so I got the adult of the house, my mum :P, to get some pliers and cut them down.
This is the end result:

I like that some of the flowers have black stems which match my room and the flowers are a similar shade but not too much so that they aren't seen when it's against the wall. Also, I'm not sure whether or not to add coloured sand in the bottle as the white heart and writing would stand out more if I did. I like the idea of getting maybe 2 or 3 different colours of sand and making a design in it. Might be difficult as the neck of the bottle is quite narrow. Or maybe I'll buy some more glass pebbles to add. Hmm... decisions decisions.

Opinions? :D
