That was blooming MARVELlous: Spoiler Alert

First off I will try to not give away too much whilst writing this. It is more a post on how much I love Marvel films but I did see Iron Man 3 the other day which spurred me to write this post.

I will admit that I have never read or even touched a Marvel comic, but I am a huge Marvel film fan.
The other day Iron Man 3 came out and I was very eager to see it as the Iron Man films are one of my favourite Marvel creations. It didn't disappoint either, it was brilliant. The graphics were amazing and I loved the bad guys. You can't not like Tony Shark and Robert Downey Jr is the perfect actor to play him.

One part of the film that made me sad was a part including his robot that he always demeans and when the bad guy blows out the side of Air Force 1. It's quite upsetting to watch 13 people first be dragged out the plane and then watch them freefalling through the sky. Must be an awful thing to happen in real life.
Overall, the storyline is amusing and heart wrenching. I would watch it again and I can't actually pick which of the 3 Iron Man films I like the best as they are all pretty brilliant films on their own and together.

I haven't actually seen all of the top Marvel films and I would like to see the Hulk films as he is amazing in Avengers.
I don't think I can list them in order as I do enjoy watching any of them but I do have my favourites. Of the films I have seen, I think Daredevil and Captain America are towards the bottom of my list as well as Spider Man. The new Amazing Spider Man isn't too bad but it was a remake that was made too quickly after the original films.
I love the X-Men, Iron Man, Thor, Blade and Fantastic Four films and I loved the Avengers so I do think that film is near/ at the top of my list :D.

The next couple of years for Marvel films is going to amazing:
Thor 2,
The Wolverine,
X-Men,
Fantastic Four reboot,
Avengers 2.
I'll probably even see Captain America 2 and the Amazing Spider Man 2 just because I like watching Marvel films.

Going all tingy thinking about them all :)

My Favourite Book Series at the Moment: James Patterson Alex Cross Series

I have moved onto another book series at the moment. I had got to the point where I'd have to start paying for the books on the Kindle in the Scarpetta series. I will go back to them at some point but I've gone onto something else. I did start reading Lord of the Rings as I love the films but they are quite hard to read, especially when you're only half concentrating. I've decided on James Patterson's Alex Cross series instead.

Once again I have read a few of this series but out of order so I have started from the beginning. I'm not even half way through the first book but I know I'm going to like them, from past readings of other books of Patterson's and how this book is going. It's fast paced and a real 'page turner' as they say.
I don't read much of it at a time as I only really read at night before I fall asleep.
The characters seem to be well thought out and work quite well with each other. I enjoy the change of perspective between the main character and the 'villain'. It's a book where the reader knows who it is and the 'heroes' are trying to catch them.

I have seen that there are a few Alex Cross films so I might watch them after reading a few of the books and see if the character in the film is how I imagine him from reading the books.  I might wait until I'm quite far through the books as I don't like watching a film then seeing the actors face as I read the book.

I think I need to read a different genre after this

Candle Holder

A couple of months ago I went into Boots and saw that they sold Yankee candles. I've read about them in a few blogs and in a few youtube videos and have wanted to try one for a while. I did check on ebay but as I didn't know what scent I'd like I didn't want to risk paying a lot to buy one I didn't like.

As I had never had one before and as I don't burn candles that often, I decided to go for the small, very cute jars. I'm not that into flowery smells so I decided to go for sweet smells and decided on black cherry and vanilla cupcake.

I've been burning my way through the black cherry for a while now as I always forget to light it. I like the smell but can't keep it alight for too long as it does get overpowering after a while.

A few weeks ago my mum went to a wedding and they had lovely candle holders on the tables with little tea lights in them. Although I like the jar to the yankee candles, it fits perfectly into the candle holder and matches the vase that I mentioned in Wine Bottle to Vase :D blog I did. At the moment I'm very into being girly with pink and hearts. However, I'm also starting to enjoy nautical items and keep buying jewellery with anchors on them. Ha! :D

Few Changes

So, over the last couple of weeks I've had my hair dyed and had nails put on.

I'm always so scared about changing my hair but one day I decided I was going to do something different. I've had it cut quite short before but never had much colour put on it. I have some white hairs dyed the same colour but that's the extent of it.
I think it's my mum's fault really as she never used to let me do anything with it. I'm almost 23 so I think I can do what I want now. To a degree. :p A tattoo is still out the question ha!

It's not a big change, as I didn't want to do anything too drastic for the first time. I went with a subtle ombre change. You can only really see it properly in daylight but I like it :D
Next time I'm going to go a bit lighter but I doubt I'll ever go blonde as I don't think it would suit me.

As for my nails. I've had them done once before but I wasn't keen on them. A few of the girls at work have their nails done often and they always look really nice so I decided to go to where they go on their recommendation. My mum took us both for a treat.
It was quite funny as my mum is quite short and we were sat in huge desk chairs. The floor was wood so every time my mum moved, the chair went shooting off across the room ha! Was quite funny watching her try to scoot back to her place. The people kept laughing at us.

I decided to get mine squared and have a nice
design on my ring and thumb nails. Overall it cost £24 which I didn't think was too bad. It was quick even with them shuffling to different people. At the first place it took over 2 and half hours and they were a bit shoddy. Bit of a piss take really.
I will definitely go there again, might ask them to be a bit shorter next time, as I'm finding typing a challenge ha! Might get a bit harder when I move to Sheffield but I'm sure I'll find one just as good :)

Egg-cellent

Mike's birthday and Easter were pretty close this year so I've posted two posts in quick succession as waiting to post one later would mean it would be way past when the event happened.

So, I asked Mike if we were getting Easter eggs for each other this year, he replied that he had already bought me one a few weeks ago. Damn it! Eager Beaver.

As a thing, we normally have a price limit to what we can spend on each other for Christmas, birthday etc. However, Mike normally goes above it just to out buy me so I've decided to try and do better than him on the Easter egg as was as his Birthday present :D.

He's not bothered about even having one and he only got me one because it was wrapped prettily, but I wanted to get him one.
One of my colleagues suggested a personalised egg, so I went to Thorntons at the White Rose Centre and bought him this:

Ha! I looked up a corny egg joke on the internet to put on it. He's always bothered about being the funniest guy I know so I decided on this one :D.
It was buy one, get one free and as I didn't have anyone else I wanted to give one to my mum has had one done for me. Not sure what she's put on it but I think it's just as corny as my message.

He'll probably think I'm lame but I don't care. I find it amusing so that's all that counts. :D

This is what Mike bought me:

I obviously think mine's better but this was quite nice. It had chocolates inside it which were also really nice :D. As I was staying with him for a few days we shared both eggs within a couple of days. Oops!

Here's what my mum did for me:

I don't really think the statement makes sense but it still made me laugh when I saw it. I have to eat it quickly as I'm starting to eat better again soon. Oh no :p

Happy Easter :D

Indoor Skydiving

For Mike's 22nd birthday I decided to buy him a gift off buyagift.com. He pretty much has everything, so I thought maybe going somewhere and doing something would be nicer than getting him something he won't be that bothered about and doesn't need.

As an attempt to out buy him (I'm on a roll this month with this and his Easter Egg :p) I bought him the indoor skydiving experience for two. I wasn't going to go watch him do it and not do it myself! :p
The website has so many different ideas and I was torn between a driving experience and the indoor skydiving experience. I'll go for the driving experience next time :p. It was just over £100 and arrived the next day so I'm quite glad I didn't pay extra for next day delivery. I'm very happy about the whole buy a gift process as it was so easy to buy the gift and then book it. I'm hopeless on the phone so I liked that I could book a time to go online and get it sorted that way :D.

I was very excited to do it. We went when he had some time off work, and stayed in another Copthorne Hotel. I do like Mike's job sometimes. I'm laying the hints to go to Paris for a few days on quite thick :p.

I would definitely recommend this for anyone who has everything. The instructors were so nice, he didn't make you feel stupid if you did it wrong. For an extra £5 each we had a different instructor come in and take us to the top of the tube. That was amazing.
Plus for the price I paid I got a DVD extra so I didn't need to pay for pictures as I've just print screened them from the DVD. Sneaky :p

Here's a few pictures of the hotel room. They put us in a room facing the Quay. Was really nice. The hotel isn't as nice as the one we stayed at in London and it has more a casual clientele but was still quite nice.

Whilst we were at dinner that night we also decided that as both of us have pretty much everything, that for special occasions we'll just buy experiences for us both to do instead of gifts.
I've produced a bucket list of things we could do. The possibilities are endless :p
